After craving some space of their own, partners Sophie Bell and Lewis Alexander, took the plunge and decided to purchase their first ever home at our Uphall Station Village development.
Sophie, from Livingston, and Lewis, from Aberdeen, had been living at Sophie’s parents’ house for a year and a half when they decided that the time was right to spread their wings.
The couple were drawn to the three-bedroom Gilroy house-type as it offered the space they needed – a welcome change from their previous, rather squeezed, living arrangements.
They also loved its location. Having grown up in the area, Sophie was especially keen to live in Uphall, which offered her a short 18-minute commute to work, and a 20-minutes journey to Edinburgh City Centre by train.
“We are thrilled with our new Dundas property and we can’t wait to make many happy memories in our first ever home.”
The new-build house was perfect for the couple, who had viewed a number of differently styled older buildings and tenements, and decided they wanted a fresh space they could truly make their own.
“When we first went to view the Uphall Station Village development, we really liked the size of the Gilroy house,” Sophie said. “It was perfect for two people and we knew it would give us plenty of room to entertain friends and family. As Lewis works from home, it also meant that we would have a third bedroom to turn into an office space.
“Once we’d made our decision, we were so eager to move in and couldn’t wait to get our keys. Our sales rep. keep us updated as much as possible while the house was being completed and sent us photos along the way – it was all very reassuring and exciting.
“Since we’ve made ourselves at home, one of our favourite features of the house is definitely our south-facing garden, which catches the morning sun. We also love our living room/dining room, which we have split into two different spaces to suit our own needs.
“The development itself is fab - we have already discovered lots of new walking routes, our neighbours are lovely (we even have a few of them on Instagram!) and the area is very peaceful, with lots of families, kids and dogs.
“For us, the general location is also great. We go to a local gym in Livingston and visit the retail outlet there. There is an Aldi just along the road from us, which is where we always do our food shop, and the Almondell & Calderwood Country Park is just around the corner. With Edinburgh also being so close, it is perfect for when we want to have a date night in town.”
