With energy bills at an all-time high, it’s never been more important to think about the cost of running your home. At Dundas we build energy-efficient homes, designed to save you money.
Heating and lighting
Our homes are fitted with highly efficient central heating systems, energy-saving controls, including HIVE smart thermostats, and low-energy lightbulbs. These will help keep your bills low and your home warm and well lit.
Energy efficient appliances
All our standard fitted appliances are carefully chosen to be highly efficient in terms of the amount of energy and water they use – keeping your day-to-day costs under control.
Design and insulation
We design energy efficiency into all aspects of the homes we build – from the timber-frame system we use to the highly effective insulation and argon-filled double glazing we install.
Renewable energy
Many of our properties benefit from having solar panels installed, providing sustainable electricity that will help reduce your carbon footprint while helping you to save money.
All of our homes have an EPC rating of either A or B.
When it comes to energy efficiency, in many cases a newly built home will beat an old home hands down. This is because construction techniques, know-how and materials have improved significantly in recent years.
Cheaper to run
A new-build home can be up to 65% cheaper to run than its equivalent built in the Victorian era. When compared to homes built before 1980, buyers of new-build homes can save over £555 a year in running costs.**
No drafts or rattles
A new-build home from Dundas is built to the highest standards, so you won’t find any drafts, cold patches, or rattly windows that will make your home chilly and more expensive to heat.
Everything done for you
Buy a new home from Dundas and all the work to make it energy efficient has already been done, so you won’t have to spend extra on putting in new insulation, a modern boiler or double glazing.
Dundas homes are designed from the ground up to save you money on your energy bills, but there are lots of things you can do once you move in to keep your bills low.
Turn it off
Turning lights and devices off is an obvious way to save money. But don’t forget to turn off standby mode: According to the Energy Saving Trust, doing this could save around £35 a year.
Turn it down
Keep tabs on your heating will really pay dividends. Only heat those zones of your house in use and don’t make your home too hot. Turning down your thermostat by just one degree can save well over £50 a year.
Go green
When you are looking for new electrical equipment, choose the appliances and tools that are the most energy efficient available – with an A+ rating or better.
Do less
One of the most effective ways to save energy is to use appliances less. For example, if you only need a cup of tea, just boil a cupful of water. Only wash full loads of clothes – using the washing machine less is a great way to save.
Our Wireworks apartments have energy saving built-in.
